Over our two year grant, AmeriCorps Senior (CadvocateRs) will be responsible for bringing people together to build relationships, identify problems, and develop the capacity—the power—to change the decisions and processes of institutions that contribute to the disparities plaguing our community, like Southeast Raleigh, having the highest number of COVID-19 cases in the state of NC as well as an unemployment rate that is nearly doubled the citywide rate. Through a combination of virtual/on-site podcast events, mentoring youth and young adults, and seniors assisting seniors we plan to reinvigorate the southeast Raleigh community. We can not accomplish this endeavor by ourselves so We are looking for enthused volunteers ready to work and get their hands dirty. There is so much in store for those who plan to partner with us and become “CAdvocateRs”. One huge perk for our seniors, age 65 and older, we will be providing a stipend to qualifying candidates by getting involved in one our community projects.
